The Transaction begins when a Customer triggers XCHANGE by initiating a purchase with a Reseller. This purchase can be either at the retail counter or online. The Reseller takes the next step by initiating a purchase of that product from a Vendor. The product takes the form of a License Code - a string of alphanumeric text like this: 5769-YG82-EAIL-YKRC-A9K8. Assuming the terms of trade are satisfied, the Vendor delivers the License Code to the Reseller. Finally, the Reseller delivers that License Code to the Customer. XCHANGE charges a Transaction Price for our delivery service. Vendors do not directly interface with the End User. Similarly, XCHANGE has no contact with the End User.

Resellers purchase products using a Web Cart interface or Integrated Systems utilizing one of our API's or Plugins. While most Resellers use the Web Interface, a significant number connect through integration. API and Plugin integration require programming by Reseller IT staff. We offer plugins for WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento and BigCommerce, and for those using other systems, a Generic API. The advantages of connecting using an API or Plugins are not just measured in productivity gains, but also in increased sales. We cannot recommend it enough.

Environmental Impact

These pictures are real. They were taken at the premises of a software distributor taking products from one version to the next. The process involves the return by freight of the existing Products from the Resellers and replacing them by freight with updated Products after the return had been vetted. The boxes above were returned by various Resellers. They had to be opened and the license cards removed and returned to the manufacturer so that the Distributor would receive credit. The Products which contained an outer box, internal padding, manual, CD-ROM and shrink wrap were then trashed. The amount of waste on display here is shocking. However, when multiplied thousands of times over thousands of Resellers, Distributors and Manufacturers, we get a sense of the contribution XCHANGE is making not just to the music software industry but also to the environment.
